As wildfires rage on and wreak havoc in California, I write this blog from the relative safety, and comfort of a legally permitted cannabis dispensary and consumption lounge in Oakland, California. It’s become quite a respite to be able to escape the harsh air quality and hustle and bustle outside to consume cannabis in a fun and legal setting.
I’ve been a budtender for almost twenty years, helping provide cannabis to consumers for therapeutic, and most recently, recreational reasons as well. It’s really great to see all the new faces coming in from all over the place. From more conservative midwestern and southern states, and also other countries. We just had someone visit from Israel, that we showed how to vape for the first time.
My job as budtender is to help create an experience with a certain cannabinoid profile, or locate products that can mitigate health concerns, such as topicals or tinctures with a ratio of CBD to THC. It’s more than a mere retail position. Unless you are an experienced cannabis consumer, there are usually a lot of questions, and hand holding budtenders need to do to ensure you are satisfied with the decision.
You should be able to trust your budtender, that’s why experience and knowledge are most essential, and any good company will provide staff with the ongoing training necessary to assist clientele in choosing a cannabis product that fits every situation.
The research around cannabis is exploding exponentially right now, and there’s a lot to keep up with. I look forward to providing information on what you as a consumer can expect, and how you can make a full and informed decision, at any cannabis dispensary.
